LAHORE: Pakistan’s right-handed Test opener Ahmed Shehzad has been named among the list of local players in gold category for the upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), slated to take place in the April-May window this year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday, unveiled the highly-anticipated list of local players in the gold category, comprised of several notable players, who have been out of the national team like Ahmed, Fawad Alam, Umar Akmal and Sharjeel Khan.

Ahmed last featured in the marquee league in the 2020 edition, where he represented then defending champions Quetta Gladiators, with whom he won the prestigious title in 2019.

The list also features diverse mix of emerging and experienced players from across the country, all vying for a chance to join any of the six franchise teams.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday unveiled a revised pick order for the upcoming PSL 10 draft.

The previous three Platinum categories have been consolidated into two, while the number of Diamond categories has been reduced from three to one.

Additionally, the Gold categories have been trimmed from three to two, and the Silver categories have been reduced from five to three.

In terms of draft pick order, Lahore Qalandars have secured the first pick in the Platinum 1 category, followed by Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans and Islamabad United.

Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators will kick off the Platinum 2 category with the first pick, followed by Karachi Kings.

The PCB also confirmed the revised schedule and venue for the PSL 10 player draft, which is now set to take place on January 13 at Huzuri Bagh in Lahore at 12:30 PM (Pakistan Standard Time).

The event, originally scheduled for Gwadar, Balochistan, was relocated due to "unforeseen logistical challenges."

Additionally, the PCB announced that Gwadar will play a key role in the PSL 2025 Trophy Tour, with the picturesque city set to host one of the tour's stops across Pakistan.
